Format
Individual format. Challenges played in teams, pairs, or individuals. The dailies are throwbacks.
The top three finishers of the first challenge earn Stars. A player must have a Star to qualify for the final. There are only six Stars. Adam, Averey, Brad, Brandon, Cara Maria, and Rachel were the first Star holders.
Each daily challenge results in winning, middle, and losing groups. The winning group is safe from elimination and may not have their Stars stolen from them. Players in the winning group may volunteer themselves for elimination and replace one of the nominees to earn a Star. The middle group is safe from elimination and votes for two players from the losing group to go into elimination. They may still have their Star stolen. The losing group are the worst performer(s) from the daily and are at risk of elimination.
In order to get a Star, you have to win an elimination where you can steal it from an opponent. If the player already has a Star, they can steal a Star and give it to another player. Stars stolen from male players must be awarded to another male, and Stars stolen from female players must be awarded to another female.
Season Notes
Ayanna had gotten into it with many cast members, including Brandon, Janelle, Kam, and Leroy, regarding race and mental health. It had gotten so bad that Janelle decided to quit.
The first women's elimination was supposed to be Janelle vs. Tina before Janelle quit. Tina was still given the option to steal a Star. She stole Averey's.
Rachel stole Tina's Star after winning against Ayanna and awarded it to Veronica.
Kam and Leroy turned on Cara Maria following Ayanna's elimination. Cara burned a vote leading to their conflict.
The Episode 4 daily challenge was called "Unbraided: Reloaded." The winners were Derek, Kam, Laurel, Ryan, and Steve.
The Episode 4 elimination between Cara and Rachel was called "Star Slice," and had them throwing ninja stars at targets.
Cara gave Rachel's Star to Jasmine after beating her in elimination.
The Episode 5 daily challenge was called "Bobblehead Bobsled" and is an homage to "Luging My Mind" from The Duel II. The winners were Derek, Kam, Kefla, Steve, and Tina.
Ace, Adam, Cara Maria, and Veronica voted for Brandon and Leroy. Jay voted for Leroy and Ryan.
The elimination between Brandon and Leroy was called "Mission Improbable," and featured them suspended in the air, facing downward, with a maze attached to their arms and legs by strings. They had to use their bodies to move 5 balls along the maze into their designated slots. Brandon lost by 1 ball.
Leroy stole Adam's Star after winning against Brandon.
