This is the WORST district I’ve ever worked or had children in. As a teacher, you are constantly battling discipline, staying at school until 6-6:30 with late buses, admin is never available or are unqualified for their roles, board meetings are held at times the general public is at work, misuse of funds, teachers are not given ANY resources (teachers pay teachers is BLOCKED), no time is allotted for conferences in our schedule as teacher work days are filled with trainings and meetings, inclusion classrooms lack special education teachers and paras so more often than not, your child’s IEP is not met. and so much more!

The Chatham County school system is a diverse bunch. Although the education varies between schools overall it is decent. There are a lot of afterschool programs and parent involvement programs. This is great for the students and parent population in Chatham county. Although I do think that the college readiness is lower than it needs to be, but it could always get better overtime. Schools like Savannah early college are better at preparing for college readiness through their dual enrollment program. In addition, most schools do not provide transportation to the colleges. This is why Savannah college is better at dual enrollment overall. If teachers were not so overworked and paid better, the school system could have great potential.
